A third of people in the US and Europe will abandon phone lines in favour of wireless and broadband telephony come 2009, say analysts Gartner.
Thats a LOT of people, think of all the local telecom companies, do you think they will offer Internet calls as well?
Would you choose internet calls or the Standard telephone?

I have had VoIP for about a year. Love it!
Calls all over the world, Talking to friends in the UK for 3+ hours, Calling South Africa, Arkansas, NY, Local equals 20 bucks a month. With my regular phone, my base was 26.99 plus all the taxes they throw on. By the time I was finished, my bill averaged 37 to 40 bucks a month WITHOUT any long distance calls. E911 works now in the US, You have ALL * features, Answering service, Video Phone, plus more. People with cable internet service, I highly recommend this. You can cancel your phone service althgether assuming you have a Cell phone for back-up. As with all internet, it is not 100% reliable yet, but i have a 99% uptime.

My familys already saved over $100AU in the first month, by the 3rd month the cost of the Sipura spa 3000 will have been more than recovered.

I can't possibly use it
but if i could, i remain skeptical.while the calls are crystal clear and it's very cheap, they do have their dangers though..if your ISP is down, you can't use it...telephone companies have been around a long time and they usually are always up.

actually if you have 56k with atleast 48.8 connection speed you can use VoIP with the G729 Codec.

First you either an IP Phone or a ATA box to use an analogue phone.
then you get a VoIP service.
I reccomend simply getting one of these

And get a Simple Cordless Phone for it.
