i am currently changing around my network and i have the following problem.

I have my netcomm NB1300+4 running my ADSL with the IP address 192.168.2.1

That is connected to the INTERNET port on my WRT54G wireless router that has the IP 192.168.1.1

My server, which hosts a website is connected to the WRT54G with the IP 192.168.1.5

I am trying to forward port 80 to the server, and i can access everything internally, but the internet site can not be access externally. I have tried forwarding ports in all different combinations, but have had no luck Sad

Does anyone know how to forward the port (or ALL ports) to the WRT54G, then port 80 to the server from the WRT54G?

Thankyou,
Clarky3429

why are you running the NB1300 on a different IP Range as the other 2 devices, that might have allot to do with it.

because the WRT54G states that it must have that IP address to be used in the internet port of its router, or else i cant use the features of the linksys for the internet

It sounds like your web server is running on the noroutable range (i.e., 192.168....) You would need the webserver to be assigned a public IP address so others can access it...right now, it is your ROUTER that receies the public IP address...contact your ISP so you can get a public on for your server as well...

I have to completely disagree with that statement. The Internet port on ANY broadband router HAS to be able to receive a dynamic IP address of the damn thing just would not work at all on any connection. In your situation, you should allow your WRT54G to receive an IP from the netcomm on the SAME subnet. I have the same router you are playing with. Set the router to dynamic, or even Cable broadband and it will receive an IP from the netcomm if DHCP is enabled on the netcomm which it should be. If the netcomm has the ability, create a reservation with that IP address so that the WRT54G always receives the same IP address. This will make sure that the WRT54G has an IP address that is on the same subnet as the netcomm and will not cause any conflicts. Set port forwarding on the netcomm for the IP address of the WRT54G. Set port forwarding on the WRT54G to the computer or server IP.

when i have it on .2.1 it allows me to use the WRT on the DHCP (auto config) mode from the netcomm, but as soon as i make the router in the same subnet it just refuses to connect in status tab under internet connection... :S

no matter, i just put the server on the netcomm router and it worked fine with port forwarding...everything else is on the WRT

It is a messy setup, you might have had an easier time just buying a Modem / Router and a switch.

Its Much Easier.
