Hi guys!

I have a great SOLUTION, to get an open gate via DIAL-UP in the winmain version of VISTA 5231!
First of all the story:

I downloaded the torrent over 4 days, at least with nearly 70 kB/s.
Then I started VIRTUAL CD V7 and have now a VIRTUAL CD DISK as letter O:\
Within O:\ I was able to see the complete ISO and could install from this O:\ and so from HARDDISK!!

Installed it worked great...ok...explorer sometimes went away and crashes, but sound worked after installation of the sound driver from my ASRock mainboard CD.

BUT my SIS 900 ethernet card had no support! UPS!!! NO DSL?

I tried all, but no luck!

So I installed my old MODEM Dr. Neuhaus Cybermod with 28.800 bits/s and AOL 8 and also AOL 7 (to try MODEM access), but nothing seemed to work! No DIAL-UP networking, because of no working network card! And also my MODEM could only start AOL 8.0 but not hold any connection!

Here now the great and weired SOLUTION:

I wanted to activate over MODEM and started DIALER.EXE. It connected me over a 0800... number with Microsoft (Germany, Munich ?), but the activation worked not (not yet!)

But it holded the connection!

And so I looked into the NETWORK CENTER and there was NOW REALLY an icon for that DIAL-UP networking via MODEM! (I hurried up to make copies of that DIAL-UP... For sure also a shortcut onto DESKTOP!)

So I changed afterwards the 0800...number to AOLs 01914 (AOL Germany) and in the properties I must fill in XXXXXXX@de.aol.com and my AOL PASSWORD and....IT WORKED!

Now I have an WORKING ICON at my VISTA 5231 winmain DESKTOP and can go to INTERNET!

Sure, only with 28.8 kB/s...but it worked! (And with a faster MODEM always faster...)

And so I was also able to activate it!!!! No I have a "genuine Windows!"

Nice SOLUTION, I think! What do you think?

Greatings from Freiburg, Germany!!!!
Manfred

Its amazing what some Computer KnowHow and Persistence can Achieve.

Me and a freind once worked together to single handedly crack XP Activation back when XP first came out, we succeeded to :P took us 2 days.

We did it by messing with the WPA Scripts and changing Reg Values.

So you can help me/us to get a working DSL DIAL-UP icon on Desktop for DSL?

Any trick in registry?

My DSL SiS900 Ethernet card is installed and working but the program to choose dial-up / VPN for Broadband and DSL is not working correct!

Thanks!
