images/news/microsoft.jpgFormer Microsoft Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Chris Liddell has resurfaced less than a month after resigning from Microsoft as the new CFO of General Motors.

Liddell also will get the title of Vice Chairman at GM, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Microsoft announced Liddell’s planned departure, after a four-year stint as Microsoft CFO, in late November. Microsoft is paying Liddell $1.9 million as part of a “resignation agreement,” according to Securities and Exchange filings.

Liddell, whose last official day is December 31, is being replaced by Peter Klein, the CFO of Microsoft’s Business Division (the unit that manages Office). Klein has been making the rounds in the past month, visiting with Wall Street analysts, and emphasizing that he is just as committed to cost-cutting as Liddell was, according to sources.

Interesting move for Liddell, who allegedly left Microsoft because he wanted to be more than just a CFO.
