images/news/yahoo.jpgMicrosoft and Yahoo have reached an online search and advertising revenue deal, though it is unclear whether the two companies have made the agreement official, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The deal does not include an upfront payment from Microsoft, but will revolve around ad-sales revenue sharing, the WSJ's Kara Swisher reported on All Things Digital. The two companies are expected to announce the agreement within 24 hours.

As previously reported, the Microsoft-Yahoo deal involves using Microsoft's search technology to power Yahoo search, Swisher writes. Yahoo would be able to sell ads on both Yahoo and Microsoft's search engine, Bing, and get a substantial cut of ad revenue.

Microsoft declined to confirm or comment. Yahoo did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
