I know this is completely off topic but I have a gripe about this company/site.
I bought rims and tires, package deal, in late feb I live in North Dakota so I was not able to put them on the car until late april. Ok here is the thing I ordered Nexen N3000 tires I received Federal, I am easy going and the tires were similar and had the same tread design I did not worry about it. So here we are a bit over 30 days from when I put the tires on less then 2k miles on the tires and they are wore out. I have noticed a vibration at 70mph and over, bad balancing. The center of the tread is still there but the edges are wore smooth which to me indicates low tire pressure when I put them on I checked the pressure it was 33lbs I later seen that the tire has 44lbs on the side. Wheelmax's take on this is I should have contacted them about this in march. I did not have the tires on the car so I did not know about this. Anyone have any thoughts? Am I justified in complaining or?
I am posting this in several places, I want to get information out and if enough people have complaints maybe wheelmax will think better of there actions.

No. Not even close. You have a bad (REALLY bad by the look of those pictures) tracking problem with your car. I suggest you get this checked ASAP. Have a look at the tracking arm. If the tyre is that bad after 2k then there's a good chance the arm is damaged. Maybe bent. Did you hit any rocks/large pothholes/kerbs of late?

Hmm .. I'm going to have to say not really. I can see why you'd be unhappy but anybody who has any experience with tyres (and I have. Fitted/sold them for years so I did) will tell you that if the tyre is wearing from the inside out you have a tracking problem. The company you got these from will have one look at those tyres and say "hey, it's not our fault you have bad tracking" and they'd be right.

Federal tyres are pretty good. I don't know the Nexen brand at all.

Just in case you don't know where the tracking arm is I've marked it in the picture below for you.

Hope this helps mate.

Thanks David I know what you mean by wearing from the inside out, but these are not, the outside edge and the inside are both gone while the middle is still there. I believe the alignment is not correct as well however they have so few miles they should not have wore this much, and most of those miles are in town 2 min at a time.
I drove this car 400 miles to my dads and back but other then that they go less then a mile a day to work.

I still think it's mostly tracking mate. I can see more wear on the inside than the outside which is a sure indicator of tracking. Did you check to see if one of the tracking rods are bent? Also I'd jack the car up and grad each side of the wheel and see if there's exessive side to side movent. If so then it's a bearing problem I'd say, I see what you're saying about such severe damage for low mileage but I've seen tyres that have done about the same mileage and be just as bad. As I said earlier Federal are a pretty good brand (if I remember right Federal work alongside Dunlop) so I really don't think it's a tyre fault. Even if it was a tyre fault it really couldn't happen to the four of them. The odds of four bad tyres in one fitting is fairly high I'd imagine.

On a side note, what model car is it?

the alignment is off, probably, but not a bent arm, its lowered. Its a 2000 grand am, I picked it up in Feb. I got it for a steal all things considered. Though I put quite a bit of money into it. Headlights, tail lights, Rims, Tires, and Lowering kit. Plus an assortment of odds and ends. I just put a 3 inch exhaust on today, Talk about a tight fit but the exhaust shop was very good and cheap. I need to get it aligned but because of how low it is there is no shop that can do it for 200 miles. I hate the sticks.

Dude .. sweet ride!! I just love the American style cars. Awesome :bluerip:

If there's a place that can do it on a ramp near you then they can surely do it without the ramp. All they need to do it take the tyre plates off the ramp and put them under your tyres. It's even easier if it's a laser tracking machine. They just need the floor to be as flat as possible. I've done this many times because some of the larger vans wouldn't fit on the ramp because our roof was quite low. Ask around. you just never know :chriso:
