on the 3rd of the 11th i decided to reformat my C: and go 64bit vista (I used my Ultimate Key to =D )

Now let me give yous some history as to why this is usually been an event for me.

I fairly long time ago when 64bit windows server 2003 just came out i gave it a go with a desktop conversion and it turned out to be a disaster, i had BSOD's and all kinds of problems with getting simple things to work like games or usual programs, i even remember not been able to get my mouse driver to work properly i mean its just setpoint ffs ! and it was a 64bit one to.
After that i got my hands on a pirated copy of XP Pro 64bit corp, that was allot better but i still wasn't satisfied with the stability despite been told its the best OS ever to be made by microsoft, of course i took that with a grain of salt.

Anyways sticking to my already 2 year old aged XP 32bit install that was running stable but was basically been held together with chewing gum and wire a few months and Vista comes. Now i heard that the one license runs both 32bit or 64bit so i waited for the action pack to arrive at work and my boss gave me the vista business key and along i went to go 64bit again and this time on New hardware, Yep i build my core 2 duo machine and installed vista 64. Ran like crap more BSODS than ever compared to the server 2003 64bit run and yeah terrible. I ran 32bit excellently, it was great infact better than XP ever was.

I tried 64bit vista when SP1 came but it wasn't as stable yet, i dont know why it just wasnt good and one of my friends got a new PC on core 2 quad and a 9800GTX and he said it ran "weird" and unstable so hes on 32bit.

Now 3 weeks ago i gave yet ANOTHER go at 64bit after i got me a radeon 4870X2, previously having a 8800GTX well.. its always good to format when changing graphics card platforms and it was a good idea to use my latest action pack ISO of Vista that has SP1 slipstreamed.

I don't know, maybe it was nvidia ? well i dont think so coz lots of people use nvidia and vista 64 just fine.
Since my last attempt at 64bit i did notice a full wave of fresh new drivers for all of my hardware, even the intel matrix RAID has a new version, and i did go with an SP1 slipstream disk.

My 64bit vista ultimate is going absolutely amazing, its just amazing. Its so fast.... so Stable.... Plays all the games, runs all the apps and tried Minefield ? w00t @ 64bit firefox LOL (not that i use it as default... my Maxthon addiction still goes strong)

Anyways, im finally on 64bit, its been a long journey of trials and errors, but im there, and its sunny =)

:green_beer: I differ in only the fact that it's Blowteesta, XP x64 is still the best MS os to date imo :rofl_mini:

Vista all the way baby. I love all the pretties and junk with it. As long as you have the hardware for it, Vista rocks (IMHO)!

I think reformatting when changing graphics cards is a bit extreme. I never have a problem simply uninstalling the old drivers and everything related, then installing the new ones...

(I just went from an 8800GTS 512mb to a 4870 1 gb btw)

There's always that "driver cleaner" program as well.

The whole OS was due up anyways, it was nearly a year old and traversed 3 graphics cards, 2 processors, a ram upgrade and 2 sound cards. aswell as several LAN parties and heaps of apps come and gone, it was actually unstable to a degree aswell, it often BSOD during updates and alsmost gaurenteed a BSOD during shutdowns / restarts.

I never much liked XP, it was just a need than a want, you couldnt stick to windows 2000 PRO, it lost allot of game support.

I find Vista to be very nicely polished and with SP1, its truly a first for MS where u get an excellent OS with high stability and scalability, excellent modern hardware support and utilizes modern hardware excellently, such as Superfetch stops you from wasting ur ram, the memory management for the swapfile is much improved also.
