I've just realized that there's only 3200 MB of RAM avaiable for Windows. I think it's occurring since i updated my BIOS to 2602 (was 2402 before). CPU-Z can see all 4096 MB... During boot it says that theres 896 MB reserved, ! But reserved for what ? I'm thinking of downgrading my mobo BIOS to 2402 again !

:)

if this is an issue for you, i'd go back to the older bios. usually, these differences reflect an option rom addition, like if the manufacturers noticed peeps were having probs w/multiple gpus, etc. you can whittle down the amount of system ram that is being gobbled up, but i'd opt for going back to the earlier bios...

The really strange thing is all those new Gcards being released with 896mb of GDDR3. It's a weird coincidence that, with your new BIOS, 896mb is what is being "reserved" or whatever.

32bit systems will only use a max of 3Gb, which is why its a waste shoving in 4Gb. :)

Anyway......I take it your using a P5W DH Deluxe?, if so, set the following:

Under the Chipset features, there is a setting for "memory remapping" 32Bit disable/64bit enable, set accordingly to whatever OS your using (32bit or 64bit)

How unfortunate, but thats another story. :)

Seems a few are having this very problem and there seems to be no resolution, other than upgrading/downgrading BIOS.

One article HERE
