if this is the same core.. why can't we make vista run as fast as server2008?

There are services in Vista that arent on in 2008, thats why its faster.

DRM buddy, MS wants the OS to do what they want it to do, not what you want it to do. slows the whole OS down

I dont necessarly think its DRM but all the multimedia junk no one uses...slows it down big time.

Im throwing 2008 on a Proliant ML350 G5 tomorrow... this thing should scream

Just wondering if anyone had tried dual-booting this with the evil Veesta??? Other then being a little bored I'm pretty happy with the current install. :rofl_mini: If I were going to do a fresh install, I'd probably flash my Maximus Formula to a Rampage Formula first. Those that have done it are recommending a fresh OS install. :cc_surrender:

Based on all reports... the flash is an improvement. :cc_surrender: I do want to wait till the Rampage is in stock most places in case something goes a rye. I don't think Server 2008 likes my X38 chipset. Tried a dual boot last night and it would just freeze after clicking to install without a S/N. The only time I've seen something similar was when Vista and Linux did not like 4 of my DFI boards. A switch to Asus allowed Vista to install. I remember others with Vista installed reporting file access problems when dual-booting. Server is newer and should install after Vista. Maybe I'll try it on a P-35 board tomorrow.

Hey guys, would someone please point me to the download link that worked for you? So far I've downloaded this version 3 times, burned it with both Nero and Img Burn, tried burning it on 3 different burners, tried installing on 3 different systems with no joy. It always hangs after clicking to install as a trial without the S/N. Today, I bought some +R media and finally at least got an error message.

Windows cannot open the required file G;\sources\Install.wim. Is this no longer a trial since it is now RTM????

BTW...Happy Easter to all!!! :cc_surrender:

As with Vista, it needs to be slow roasted (burned SLOW)

LOL... didn't even think of that. I haven't burned a coaster in years. I'll give that a try. It makes sense. Still... neither Nero or Img burn indicated any errors on "write verify." If I'd paid one large for a license, I'm sure I would have already driven to Redmond to extract my pound of flesh. :cc_surrender: :(

:rofl_mini:

Thanks guys!!

It is.

Vista images are very temperamental at burning to disk also, 1x is recommended, 2x MAX! :cc_surrender:

Finally, success!!! I burned 2 more coasters at 2X and 1X. Then I had to ask myself what all 3 computers had in common? They were all running Kaspersky AV during the download and burn process. I downloaded a fresh copy of server with Kav disabled and closed. I also burned the disk at 2X with Kav not running. That got me a usable disk anyway. :cc_surrender: First impression is that it much quicker than Vista even with all the extras. IE wouldn't let me download FF. I had to transfer files with an external HD. Now I've got to get things working. What are you guys using for AV since Avast won't install?
