images/news/windows.jpgMicrosoft released yet more test builds of both Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 3 and Windows Vista SP1 this week.

Microsoft made the newest test build of XP SP3, which it is calling XP SP3 Release Candidate (RC) Refresh 2, available to 15,000 testers on January 23, Microsoft officials said. It also released a new refresh of its Vista SP1 build, known as Vista SP1 RC Refresh 2, to the same 15,000 testers on January 24, execs said.

Microsoft made both builds available via its private Connect test site.

have you tried any of the sp rcs? the vista sp seems to have a more noticeably positive impact. the xp one seemed to slow stuff down/add more services/increase resource consumption...

I tired the Vista SP1 on the Sager lappy and see little difference with the exception of the wireless adapter keeps reverting to local only and blocks internet access. This behavior never occurred prior to the install of the SP. I have two wireless adapters in the Sager and both have worked flawlessly upto the SP. Still putzing with though...talker. :D

ah, though i hear removing the previous one to try the newest is a time consuming task. my file transfers and the like are much improved, along with general system/app response time speed ups.

unrar to desktop, hit the command script, and check WU several times. takes a bit to get all the setup updates.
