images/news/generic.jpgDivX is giving away copies of the DivX Pro 6 bundle again. Normally this package will cost you $20, but for the second time this year, DivX is offering up the Pro bundle at the low low price of nothing.

The package includes the DivX Pro codec, the DivX file converter, content upload, video player and web player. The free download comes in Mac and Windows flavors. You'll need to enter your email address to get a free registration code.

While it's not clear how long the free download will be available, it's billed as a limited time "holiday offer." So we're going to go out on a limb and say that you'll probably want to register your software before Christmas unless you've got $20 burning a hole in your pocket.

Get It!

I have always heard of DivX but to be honest, why do I need it in my system? What does it do nad do I already have something that does the same thing? Sorry for all the questions but it is a good way to learn...talker. :RJsPC:

the new divx offers better options/updates/controls/image quality for avi files. i just install the codec, and use cccp for the audio, under wmp.

DivX Codec which has become popular due to its ability to compress lengthy video segments into small sizes while maintaining relatively high visual quality. The DivX codec uses lossy MPEG-4 Part 2 compression, also known as MPEG-4 ASP, where quality is balanced against file size for utility. YOU ALSO NEED IT TO PLAYBACK THOSE CONVERTED FILES

The only free way you can convert Video to DivX, is by using Payed/Professional edition of it.. or the cracked one. (the best choice.. ;) He he)

Free version just drops conversion like in 2-3 minutes after Decoding

Personally I always used XviD codec for ripping my DVDs. It is Free, Faster, and the Final result always smaller and looks the Way better in comparison to same file converted with DivX.

Aand DivX (XviD) Players likes XviD better.. I mean no chopping, no freezing while Playback is in progress (depends what hardware and what software/firmware you have on your DivX Player)..

Still, if DivX giving their Pro Codec for free, why don't we take it ?
