after spending $2,000 on a scsi ("enterprise") storage setup, i have nothing but grief. my controller failed, again!!! LSI IS CRAP!!! now i have nothing. i can't see sending the thing again, only to have it fail. i lost everything. fu@k lsi, and the drives they road in on!!! hey, an 8 year old ata is whipping the pants off their setup! so much for "enterprise" products from lsi!!! crap, utter crap!

thanks for the well wishes. i'm now on the path of total upgrade! i finally found a source for the tyan s5397 (not from newegg, and without the onboard LSI sas controller, of course!), and am going ahead with an intel system (
).

well, i gave the scsis another go. turns out there was a bad drive (out of the six), but the controller did not
rebuild the raid5 array, like it's supposed to. still no love for lsi. oh, and the drive was a hitachi...

hey bill, the scsi drives were only a year old (as is the controller). the ata drive in question is an old hand -me-down from patty, which i use in a pinch. gotta give some respect to them old ata drives
