images/news/amd.jpgThe investment arm of the Abu Dhabi government, Mubadala Development Co., has just ponied up $622M for an 8.1 percent stake in AMD. The deal, which just went through this morning, gives Mubadala 49 million shares of AMD, but doesn't come with a seat on the board or represent a controlling interest in AMD. For its part, AMD didn't give any specific plans for the cash, instead saying it'll be used for R&D, manufacturing improvements, and unspecified "innovations." Must be nice to be liked, eh?

so, does this mean, instead of an over clock 'turbo' option, they will have a 'turban'...?

Heh.. AMD becomes pathetic, giving out their company practically for free :)

Not so long ago they made a big mistake, when bought ATi.., and Signed Contract with NOKIA..
I starting to think that this company may bankrupt, and remains will be taken by the Intel for example..

Well, my friend investing in that company.. and he is quite unhappy :)

Maybe AMD Will stay.. but only as a brand.. You Know ASUS ? And you know who practically owns that company ? Gigabyte..
So yes.. there is asus.. but there is Only 40% of Asus Left.. ;)

I know all about AMDs finances. I'm an avid AMD fan. I also know AMD will always have money. I know AMD will always find money if they need it. I know that AMD would have a lot more money if Intel didn't screw half the world over by using bullying tactics for years against companies that wanted to use AMD and other chip makers products. This is not a stab at you Bear. You have an opinion and I accept that. It's Intel I hate. If DaveX gave me permission to go and speak freely about Intel he'd have to close the forum down because of what I would say about them cheating little snot rags.

Overall Intel and AMD are both great Companies, and I hope they stay... still I already tired of them.. someone new should appear.. Like Mitsubishi, or new Home solutions from IBM etc.

I've read a lot about the new Phenom today. I must admit, I'm not at all impressed. I must retract me previous statement and say AMD are walking a tightrope right now. I truly hope they pull through this.
