Hey Guys

I run a SCSI U320 LSI Logic card and yeah i find using a SCSI drive is just so damn awesome for a system drive, now heres the funny one foryas.
If i run windows XP everything is normal
If i run Vista or any variant of vista including the syamntec BESR boot disk wich is based on Vista, whenever the system reboots it tells the SCSI HDD to spin down...

Heres another one

Since iv got my new system iv been running on Intels ICH9 Intel Matrix RAID a 4 320GB drive Raid 5

After a few weeks one drive for no good reason whent non-raid... just like that and made my raid 5 go degraded, so i rejoined the drive in the sotrage console program and all was fine.
A few weeks later i decided to shutdown my PC for 2 days while i whent camping with freinds, when i returned my entire array whent "offline member"

Basicly all 4 drives where still members of "a" raid but all of them offline. I spent a very long time trying to get the drives to go online, the thing was that even tho they where been detected n all the intel matrix raid was not puting them online. I also tried unpluging different drives and booting up on 3 drives with no succes. As my last ditch effort i "non raid" the drive on sata port 2 wich was the one that whent mysteriusly offline last time and shut down, unplugged it and boot up, and MAGIC ! the array came online in degraded mode, i then ordered a new seagate 320gb sata2 16mb drive and when it arrived my array has so far been very good and no more issues wich hopefully it stays that way.

I cant figure out why i had to both non raid then disconnect the drive to get an effect since i did try unplugging one drive at a time and booting up.

Now the next wierd thing is that the drive on Port 2 that messed with my raid5... is working perfectly fine in my server as a storage drive, wierd...
