I had fun today :D

I buaght some new hardware, a Intel 6750, 2gb of 1ghz Giel DDR2 and a gigabyte P35 DS3P motherboard and lastly a Nvidia 8800GTS

Spent about 2 hours ripping out the guts of my case rwemoving the old stuff and installing my new hardware.

Iv gone Vista 32bit  and so far its been running Flawlessly :D !! Vista rates all my ratings but the CPU at at 5.9, the cpu got 5.5 however after i do my OC experiments that might go 5.8 i hope

I must highly reccomend the Intel ICH9 Intel Matrix RAID !!!! i also got another 320GB Seagate Barracuda to make a 4x 320GB RAID 5 Array, and its absolutely screaming !!! im coping my stuff back on my system now and the resource monitor shows my DISK as peaking as high as 190 megabytes /sec LMAO !!!! while copying from 3 external 160gb drives to 2 partitions on my RAID 5 :rofl_mini:

I hope to be playing supreme commander soon in DX10 Goodness.

I used to be a follower of the Vista sect, but I got tired of it. First, my 6600GT's wouldn't work in SLI and then I want to update my network and go wireless and there I go my D-link adapter doesn't support Vista! Glad everything works for you, but I personally have no plans on going Vista for now. My brother likes it too since he has no complains to make about it. But for myself, since my stuff doesn't work I've just forgot about the idea of using it. Maybe later if I want DX10...

GSG-9, just incase you havent done it, make sure you install and run the windows software for the Matrix and make sure the write cache is enabled .

My RAID 5 write speed was about 9 megabytes per second before enabling the write cache O.o no kidding !

How do I make sure the write cashe is enabled? I installed the drivers from the disk but I have not messed with any settings at all, I am running a raid 0 between 2 Seagate 7200.1 250Gig drives.

Load the Matrix Storage Manager (presuming that you have installed it).

Right click on each drive in RAID array and choose to enable the write cache. (set to NO by default)

It is enabled for me, but write-back cache is disabled

also...while installing the Intel Matrix storage console (I had the drivers bud did not have the application installed) it somehow caused my raid array to fail.

It recovered fast, I'm now verifying my files, so in 2hr and 46min I will see if my raid array is healthy yet.

It also deactivated windows, so I had a nice chat with a Microsoft representative, they insisted that this would not cause windows to need to be reactivated... Yeah...well, they reactivated it thats for sure.
