images/news/gaming.jpgRepresentatives from Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures hosted a panel at the BlizzCon gaming festival in Anaheim, Calif., over the weekend in which they discussed the upcoming film based on the hit massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft, according to video-game blog Kotaku.

Speaking at the panel were Blizzard's Paul Sams and Chris Metzen, as well as Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull and Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni. They confirmed that the film will be live-action and will feature some computer-generated environments and effects. The script is still in development, but according to Metzen, the story will take place about a year before the events of World of Warcraft and will be told from the Alliance perspective. There is no director attached yet, but the producers are anticipating a release date in 2009.

Warcraft Exec #1: Fellow board members, we have a problem. Somebody in the World of Warcraft is ignoring the world's rules and is going around killing innocent players.
Warcraft President: Why kill innocent players? The game is about finishing quests.
Warcraft Exec #2: We've got to delete him from the server!
Warcraft Exec #1: We can't. Whoever this player is has played Warcraft so much, that he has reached a level we thought unreachable. He's actually able to kill our admins! And he grows stronger every day!
Warcraft Exec #3: Jesus!
Jim: I've got to get home; my kids are playing World of Warcraft right now!
Warcraft Exec #1: Jim, Your kids' characters are already dead.
Jim: No, no. They just started playing!
(Jim starts crying)
Warcraft Exec #2: What kind of person would do this?
Warcraft Exec #1: Only one kind. Whoever this person is, he has played World of Warcraft nearly every hour of every day for the past year and a half! Gentlemen, we are dealing with someone here who has absolutely no life.
Warcraft Exec #3: How can you kill that which has no life?

I told chris to lay off the WOW, guessing the girl that is a friend will get even less attention once this movie makes it. :roadrunner:

It's nice when the girl that is a friend plays WoW too :yahoo: Well in my case she used to be the girlfriend and now she's just the friend, but whatever, you get my point.
