Just for grins, I thought it'd be cool to for the members to post their 5 favorite movies of all time. It's pretty hard to pin down imho---> it may be easier to ask for our 30 favorite movies of all time. :victory:

Ranking them isn't necessary, just your 5 "deserted island" movies that you simply wouldn't be able to live without. Cool?

My 5, in no particular order:

The Shawshank Redemption
Memento
Citizen Kane
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Godfather II

Yours? :)

Event Horizon (spooked the crap out of me)

Hostile Hostages (funny as heck)

Scarface (Al Pacino ... say no more)

Hamburger Hill (Blew me away)

The Good, The Bad & the Ugly (no top 5 is complete without a Clint Eastwood flick )

This is so hard, there are so many and yet so many other that I haven't had the chance to see but I'm sure I would love to... But here I go...

The Exorcist (First one, really. It made me discover the wonderful world of horror movies. I love it. It's pure genious.)
Star Wars : Return of the Jedi (I'd like to bring the whole original series though...)
LOTR : Return of the King (I like returns! :) really hard choice between this one and the Two Towers)
The Shining (made me discover the wonderful world of Stanley Kubrick. Another genious.)
Pan's Labyrinth (I was really really amazed by that movie. I think I'm gonna watch other movies from Guillermo del Toro)

I'm gonna cheat and add more movies I love :
V for Vendetta (once you know the plot it's less interesting though, but it was great the first time)
Night of the Living Dead (I'm serious, the first one in black and white is really nice)
C.R.A.Z.Y. (You may not have heard about it, it's a movie made in Quebec 2-3 years ago that won many international awards. Talks about a young boy discovering he's gay in the 60's-70's. There's a lot of music from that time : Pink Floyd, Supertramp, David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust. No need to say it's very good. It's also about Quebec society so it's more special for us too.)

edit : After re-reading my post I found out that I own all of those movies except V for Vendetta and Night of the Living Dead. And I have a really tiny DVD collection, I have like 10 movies. So I could almost bring my whole shelf :victory:

OK- here goes-

1. 2001 A Space Odyssey-----------------------really got me interested in space flight

3. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest...............classic Nicholson
4. The Graduate...........................................best music and a classic ending
5. Original Godfather-----------------------------started it all

and a few honorable mentions- really great movies

Wizard of Oz
Psycho
It's a Wonderful Life
Treasure of the Sierra Madre (We don't need no Stinkin' Badges )
Rear Window
African Queen
American Graffitti

and probably a few I forgot

Well, I see two picks for the "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Haven't seen that myself but that's why these lists are so much fun. It's on the "to-see" list now! :)

I'd heard of it but the fact that you and roady both have it on the 'top 5' list means it's a must see. I'll make time this Saturday to check it out. :)

Ok here go my five that i guess are my favorite....

Monsters Inc. (dont laugh, I love that movie)
All three SAW movies
Blow
Pulp Fiction
American History X

Kinda funny how I go from a nice kid/family movie to some sick twisted "lets kill some people" movies. Maybe I should go seek some help :)
