images/news/firefox.jpgAs previously reported, the first official Firefox 3 beta release was tentatively scheduled for late July. The beta has now been pushed back due to performance regressions and the need for extra front-end development time, and the roadmap has been altered to reflect a new release plan. According to Mike Schroepfer, Mozilla's vice president of engineering, the developers intend to issue a new pre-beta milestone release every six weeks until the program achieves beta status.

"We are driven by quality, not time. We want to Firefox 3 to be something that we are all proud of," said Schroepfer in a statement. That sounds like Microsoft A release is still scheduled for the end of the month, but it will be referred to as Alpha 7.

"Performance regressions." :lust:

That's a fancy term for bloat. I'm really disappointed in the direction Firefox has been going since 1.5. I'll probably switch to Opera if I can find a way to block ads as well as AdBlocker does.

I installed Gran Paradiso (Alpha 5)... but its not a build for daily use... too bug and slow, add-ons couldnt be installed correctly and it also used to close suddenly... :P I know that Alpha 5 it is a very early build, but anyway it disapointed me. I hope that Alpha 7 is more stable and faster...

I am a big time Opera supporter, I have to say it is my fav and with the mods I have added I don't think there is a way to have a better web experience.

Yes, I'm using it right now. It's stable but there are some rendering probs... Some sites take much more than normal to render.
