ONE INTERESTING device that turned up at Computex is a watercooling PSU by JSP Tech.

Not much more to say about it, it is a 450W PSU that has a watercooler in it with a CPU block. It will retail for about $150 when it comes out in the near future.



On one hand, it makes a lot of sense, you have a direct external exhaust and a large area to put a radiator on. On the other hand, water + AC = bad. I will leave it up to the reader to decide if this is a good idea or not, but it certainly is different.

As the power rating goes up so does the heat generated. A fan is limited to how much it can cool. After all- you can't cool a V-8 engine with the fan alone- you need water to carry away the heat and make it more efficient. Unless some other form of power evolves- such as maybe a remote source instead of cramming into the little box inside of the computer case, water cooling will probably become more commonplace.

Adding a hose and remote block is a great idea- but I don't think that you would get maximum cooling since the power supply would increase the temp of the water greatly- and the rediator really isn't that large.

but here we are talking of the cooling being part of the psu itself. and yeah, having a small rad in a psu...but if you use a single block, and have the big fan on top of the rad...(i am going to do a psu case mod on the pc p-n-c i have, because the little single fan is not "doing it"). i bet if you have good clearance behind your rig, a single block (no OC) would be "cool"...
