I dont know about the rest of you guys but I think this "terrorism" BS is out of hand, I was reading that you can no longer visit canada, mexico, or the bahamas without a passport. And to make things worse because of this everyone is trying to get a passport an so the system is so far behind that its a several month wait. I just want to take this time to say I think thats another freedom out the window prolly never to be gotten back. That is the freedom to move an or leave if you are so inclined an heaven forbid you show any displeasure with our goverment.

I totally agree with you. I live in Canada and we can no longer go to the US without a passport. And since Montreal is around 1h from the border, some people go shopping in the US, a friend of mine does. Some go skiing there too, etc. Now with this passport thing everything if f|_|cked up. I know there's a hockey team from Maine (the MAINEiacs lol) that's playing in the Quebec Junior Major Hockey League, the should cause them some trouble too.

The governments are talking of using the driver license as an alternative to the passport for traveling between Canada and US, but then again Bush is agaisnt it so the project is more or less likely to work.

This is not protection and safety anymore, this is becoming plain paranoia IMHO.

I couldn't agree with ya more Cam. Total BS. Like what Hog posted above, in detroit it used to be that we could visit Ontario on a whim, just to spend the day there. Hell it's only 9 miles away from where I'm typing. Catch a Spitfire game, casino---just a night out in Windsor. The old, corny cliche---"Neighbors by chance, friends by choice." Now, the customs agents treat you even worse than they used to when you come back.

BS.

Yeah, it is BS. Right now i believe that you can enter Canada and re-enter the US of A with 2 forms of ID (driving) right? And in 2008 you will need a passport. I'm not too worried cauz i have mine, but it will suck when we go on our motorcycle trip from ID through WA up to Canada if they won't let my buddy back in to the US. O-well, it is more about the riding time than the actual destination for us. :(

Just an upadte....They have recinded the passport rule because of the back log. I'm thnking this will all go away. There's too many folks traveling back and forth to these countries.
