Longhorn Reloaded is a Project dedicated to the revival of the Operating System known as Code Name ‘Longhorn’. To put the projects aims simply, we aim to finish off what Microsoft started before the operating system was canceled. It is a modification of Windows 6.0.4074, which was originally released during the 2004 Windows Hardware Engineers Conference.”

Someone download the beta and let us know how it is.

Fill us in on what applications run on it. If i remember correctly, it just sat as an OS I couldn't get anything productive to work with it and driver support was terrible

I must be honest, am i correct in guessing in that this OS is based on Windows XP SP2? If I am would it not be like running an enchaned copy of xp sp2 with patches etc?

it sounds like drivers, etc are going to be an issue here (newer hardware not working). i like the gui though, hope something comes of this.

That is a nice project.

I downloaded it some time ago. It is the official microsoft alpha plus a lot of patches and tweaks that you have to install. Also included a version of WMP for Longhorn...

Even when the "fallback" system fails to install a driver you can try manually install the XP drivers. Anyways somethings wont work... my wireless device didnt work and sound only in 2-ch mode ...

...and no new news on the "reloaded" home page

i'm sure they'll trudge along with it, less direct download links. i have a copy. it didn't like my storage drivers though (might be just fine on a pata drive). the install stages and gui were identical to xp.
