I was thinking if I should get this or not:

$90CA - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz / 1MB Cache / Toledo / Socket 939

I own a 3500+ (2.2Ghz) single core

What are your thoughts?

No.. Go for "AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.00GHz (1000MHz,2MB) 64 Bit AM2" It is really cheap.. Only 220$

(i have Dual Core X2 3800+, works great.. Btw bought it for 230 $ !! )

For money which you are going to spend on this CPU you can buy

AMD ATHLON 64 4000+ AM2 (62W) BOX

AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4400+ AM2 (65W) BOX

Addig only 10-20.. AMD ATHLON 4600+ AM2 2.4GHZ (1MB) BOX

Dont buy this one :)
