I know with my 939 and such if you took up more then two slots on the motherboard with memory then the speed went down. Does that do the same thing on the Core 2 Duo stuff? I'm considering going to 4 gb since I hear it does make a noticeable difference in Vista. Anyone have any ideas?

OK for x64 Vista..........
There is a limit that exists in all 32 bit versions of Windows......which is a 4GB address space available to a 32 bit OS. Some of this address space is needed to memory map peripherals. The motherboard does this before Windows loads and this determines how much RAM Windows reports. Some motherboards have settings in the BIOS that can change this.....most don't. So......a 32bit OS will only report a max of 3.5GB within the OS itself.
The fix is to run a 64 bit OS. Even then some motherboards will still have this limitation. A common install issue with Vista on some systems is that it will refuse to install with 4 sticks of RAM fitted......the resolution is to remove 2 sticks and install Vista then replace the other two after install.

Chris, you are thinking of the onboard memory controller of the amd cpu, since the memory controller is located in the nb on intel platforms I am assuming this limitation is not a problem.

Scara, I am running all 64bit OS's.
Ok, cool Camaro thanks!! So, there is no plus in having 2 2gb sticks over 4 1gb sticks?

Corsair Dominator can't be gotten in 2 2gb sticks yet so I will hold out on that.
