"In summary, the SATA interface brings nothing from the drive performance point of view, except 2.5 times higher cache burst speed - even that would be zero if you compare it against native ATA100 DVD unit."

And even if any gain from a new product could be had you'd think they would include a driver or something to compensate for the lag in accommodation. This is something I don't understand about the tech industry. Why the heck they would spend all that time, effort, and money on a product that only promises potential instead of providing what is needed to make that product "sing like a bird". But instead they almost always underwhelm. As you can tell this article just set me off. Its not this issue, but as a general rule nearly all products are treated this way. I mean they hype, hype, and hype. Spend all kinds of money and resources to convince the masses to buy, buy, buy only to be under whelmed usually. :chriso:
Thanks! I feel better now. (going to my happy place, going to my happy place, aahhh  )

Thanks BR. This just confirms what I somehow knew. I always buy IDE DVD RWs and set them to Master. I leave the Sata ports for the good stuff. I've seen nothing but problems posted from those trying to boot from a Sata DVD. :chriso:
