i know about overclocking a bit, and I understand how it works and all, but i'm just wondering, if i were to get say an opteron that ran at 1.8 ghz, OC'd it up to like 2.5 or so, would it be safe (if it was at a reasonable tempurature, and passed long amounts of prime95 stress) to just leave it like that, and not touch it? just act as if it were bought that way?

Personally I dont OC moose (my mobo bytes), but I have seen Opty 165's (1.8GHz) OC'd @ 2.6GHz and very stable. From everything I have read the Opty will out OC most AMD chips. Most people leave them there and dont look back, thats why they buy them.

Yep, exactly, my 148 opty is single core 2.2 ghz running at 2.9 for 14 months
