Damn well i hope it works out in the end, things like Vista and OSX and other HUGE downloads are technically impossible for 56k folks...

Hey KW13
don't dismiss 56k altogether
before i got back on ADSL i had 33.6 max speed dialup
i used to DL 24/7 nonstop hauling 380mb per 24 hour period @ 11 gig a month
thats constant full speed DL 24/7
I downloaded 1.2gb vcd movies and 600mb Isos of various things.

heh actually I remember the dial-up days, had to sneak to the computer at night and log onto the internet, mom didn't save her password
, so I could download songs, and wake up early to disconnect so mom wouldn't get pissy lol.

HaHaHa
before ADSL even existed in Australia i had a rule for 56k, 7pm to 7am was the rule for 56k connecting.
i had actually developed a biological clock in my brain for waking up at 6:59 am to disc the net then go back to bed no matter how late i went to bed, it was really amazing.
when i got ADSL, i kept on waking up at that time for at least 2 months before it finaly stoped.
when i moved and couldnt get adsl for 18 months there was this promo going in telstra where u can get a free second phone line aslong as u agreed to keep it for 2 years (24 month contract)

if you play that much a month.. it's cheaper to buy DSL, and PAY to have it installed lol
