In an interview with Newsweek, the Microsoft chairman defends the Windows-using masses.
"I don't think the over 90 percent of the (population) who use Windows PCs think of themselves as dullards, or the kind of klutzes that somebody is trying to say they are," he said.
He also takes umbrage at the notion that upgrading to Vista amounts to major surgery.
"Well, certainly we've done a better job letting you upgrade on the hardware than our competitors have done," Gates told the magazine. "You can choose to buy a new machine, or you can choose to do an upgrade."
He also argues the PC now has a leg up on the Mac when it comes to security.
"Nowadays, security guys break the Mac every single day," Gates said. "Every single day, they come out with a total exploit, your machine can be taken over totally. I dare anybody to do that once a month on the Windows machine."

Absolutely. Macs (and I do own one, unfortunately----iBook) are worthless. I got totally flamed for saying this on another board, but I stand by my opinion---Macs are for people that:
a) don't know how to build their own computers.
b) like the form factor because it matches the drapes.
Those commercials bug the crap out of me.
On the OS side, I can't find it anymore but I remember that there was a straight-up XP vs. OSX comparison on the same machine and XP kicked the crap out of OSX performance-wise.
Then you have Wozniak writing books about inventing the Personal Computer. Arrrrggghhhh!!oneone. Those guys piss me off.
I do like my iPod though.

iBloatTunes reminds me of something else just released recently......
I love my iPod but I am 'forced' to install/use their software should I require an update or reset the firmware in my model.
I do this through an uninstaller program.........snapshot before and snapshot after.........leaving the system clean of that garbage......but a long unnecessary process for updating something I paid good money for.
I control my iPod with the exceptional Anapod Explorer and although it beats iBloatTunes in every department......it can't do firmware upgrades. Apple used to have a separate updater for iPods but now they 'force' one to install and use the above for updating devices.......
So yeah Mr Gates has a point.........his company is very good at brainwashing.......exceptional really......maybe Apple has been listening?

I can't get either one to work now. I think the latest security updates by MS has blocked it. (?don't know yet)
