lol, too true MO-man! Ended up having to go cheap (Phenom II, Biostar, 2x2gb Ballistix).

Still, kinda sad that it's the end of an era. Never would've met you, Nvy, Scara, Cam, RJ, Talker, Brew, Enip., Aries, Hog, Chriso86, VRosa, Stormy, and Christofolowhateverungus without those initial 64-bit builds. Probably lucked out that 754 was never an option, been on 939 until yesterday. 2 cpu's, total, (Pyro is/was awesome so I gave him some RAM), two MOBO's, 3 PSU's, 2 towers.

Later, Opty! Buh-bye S939!

Gosh, I have to agree with all of you guys that I have met over the years. I did start with a 754 and still have it. It runs as good or better than when I got it. There have been many in between and I haven't built a system in several years, just no time. I have talked to Barbara and she says I can but I am having a real problem in answering the "Why?" question. I need to get her a laptop for school so I guess that will have to take precedence. It is still a good time though...

True... Some years ago I was building my first 64-bit system (an Athlon64 3000+ SKT939) and coming to know many of you guys. Since I upgraded that system to an AthlonX2 the old CPU was forgotten in a dusty cabinet with other old things, but for my redemption l brought it back to life again. My wife said it wasn't worthwhile to to buy a motherboard for that old CPU, but I had all other parts and it was quite rewarding when I got it up and running. For me it's not just an old CPU, but the beginning of an era that we shared.

I was touched while writing this

Ah yes, I gave away my 754 set up, though unfortunately my nephew cant take care of anything, fried it. :)
I still have 4 939's going, my Opty, though only single core has been powering my wifes computer for many years now. I bet it gave a huge sigh of relief when it got that light duty.
I have another single core, 3200 running a ubuntu desktop box and then my home server 4400 dual core running headless ubuntu server and a media pc with the 3800 dual core.

Not sure what the net police should do but there are these 2 weirdos that are dead-set on infiltrating the popular net hangouts.

One is named Brewin and one is named Scaram...

ZOMG!!!
