Thanks guys! For all you imbibers of beer I had the best tasting brew of my life out there. It's a west-coast brewery (so I was told) but, lo and behold, my local Kroger in Detroit sells it:

Attached Image: beer.jpg

Absolutely has to be in a pint glass, served cold as possible, with a slice of lemon floating on top. The barkeep/hottie insisted on the lemon and she was right. Brings the flavor right out. I don't even drink beer usually but it's absolutely sublime. If Widmer was an eBay seller my review would be A+++++++++.

edit: just noticed it says Portland, Oregon on the front. :cc_surrender: Yep, west-coast.

i have never tried it, at least i don't think so...does it have a slight licorice flavor to it? or is that lagunitas or flat tire ale?

edit: do they have a "pyramid ale"? if so, it was quite nice...oops, nope, wrong. i'll have to try it...

No, it's a wheat base. Honestly, MO, I would put it into familiar terms if I could. Simply put, it's the best tasting brew I've ever had. A few friends and I went into a bar called Meatheads in LV. It's a Detroit bar and the place was full of Red Wing fans and stuff. Made some small talk with the bartender (DDD's, no lie :giggle: ) and she insisted we try it. I wanted a Ketel One/tonic and the hottie said, "nope, you're gonna have a Widmer, you'll love it." I'm not usually one to argue with hot bartenders so I acquiesced. She served it with a lemon slice floating on top and I tried to argue again: "I don't like frilly drinks, I'm a trout fisherman." Again, she insisted.

Ended up buying 4 pints. :cc_surrender: Got home and saw it at my local grocery store for $7.49/sixer. Bought two. And one lemon. :giggle:

Every now and then I'll get a Long Beach Iced Tea when out. Then I have to try to convince everyone I'm not having a Sex on the Beach or something similar. "It's tequila, rum, vodka, gin, sprite, and cranberry juice! It tastes like hooch, damn it!"

I'll see if I can locate any of that Widmer around these parts.

Never would judge a man by his drink. Does yours run OS X? You could probably run Leopard if you added a lime. :D :P
