well, after a hot drive shut me out of server, i went xp x64 again. for some reason, i get my worst (hardware) issues when using server '08 (or maybe having the rig in the kitchen while cakes are being baked...just maybe...ya think?).

Calm down MO. Watch the blood pressure. The movie files probably just need a codec or something simple and the music files have perhaps lost their association to what ever player is your choice. I still have XP x64 on my other system and nothing has changed in that install with any/all of the updates (I am making the assumption that you are referring to MS Updates). Step back and take a breath and do a little looking. After having used Vista Ult x64 I am not sure that would really be a true solution. Perhaps a band aide for a bullet wound but that is just my thinking. Good luck...Bill. :christo: :chriso:

cccp codec and divx in place. nvidia purevideo (purchased it). and...nada. even blocks "rhapsody" (subscription)...and vista is playing real nice tonight. i think the extra 4 gigs helped out, or...i dunno...

Very good, at least you are progressing. Does sound like a deep set problem. I guess Vista is giving you a nice view...HeeHee...Bill. :christo:
