I've been having second and third thoughts these past few days about my Graphic card options.

My GX2 has been put on hold till I decide one way or another.

I've been reading quite a bit on these Limited Edition 7900GTO's (exactly the same card as an 7900GTX....just 3% slower because of slightly slower mem clock). They are such tremendous value for money though....around £160 here in UK......and clock even faster than a GTX.

Some guys are getting 8000+ in 3DMark06 on these beasts! :(

The MSI & Evga variants can also be flashed to a proper GTX for SLI purposes.

All this for over £200 less than a GX2 or £300 less than a G80.

I'm not a FULL time gamer and see any card doing 7-8000 in 3Dmark06 as pretty good enough in my book?

I also don't see myself running Vista.....so DX10 is not that important IMHO.....I think a G80 would just be wasted on my system.

What to do? :)

well, i would always get the big card with the newest tech. since you are building a new rig, i would go newest (and you will run vista at some point :) ). i got the 7900gtx awhile ago because i knew the dx10 cards would take some time to come out, and i didn't want to have to flash a gpu bios or do volt mods to get good quality
out of the thing, and i love the stability at stock settings...i would think about it a bit... :(
edit: oops, just saw your reply scara...great price on the gto, for sure!

the gtx blows those cards away, lets see 8,000 3dmarks or 12,000 3dmarks :)

supposedly runs twice as fast as my 6800, so I would be getting more then 200fps in cs source... i'm pretty sure i would be getting 10,000 3dmarks, also I believe those are 3dmark06 marks

Yeah, that is a sweet card for such a sweet price!! I thought about getting one to replace my 7900gt, but then I figured this already runs everything for now so I should save my pennies for the dx10 cards!!
