AMD plans to release three new FX CPUs in November.

We still don’t have a solid date but we think it might be even sooner than we expected as Intel will announce its quad stuff on the 1st of November.

 I hope it forces FX-62 prices down !

The article said these were going to be F socket not AM2. Therefore, the fx62 will still be the top dog for the am2 so I don't see prices dropping to much, but some.

i wonder if these are geared toward the "4x4" systems by amd, soon to show up (dual dual cores rig)? or will those be exclusive to the am2 platform? (socket F is the amd smp cpu, so i don't see the benefit of releasing a souped up game/desktop style cpu for this socket, unless it is designed to play with "others" on an smp mobo...)

well, i find mention of windsor cores and am2, so i dunno. maybe they will be able to run dx9.L in xp too
(concider the source of this thread, the INQ...). i wonder what the "4x4" systems will be running, in terms of cpus/cores? these just might be them. but the one F cpu is an odd one at that.

Yeah, although the inquirer's stuff is sometimes not 100% facts, but the do a good job and getting info out and then following up later. I view it has a gosip site that has 80% of their stuff correct.
