I've seen many of u building new computers. I also want to build a new rig for next year, but have to start thinking right now. I havent decided nothing yet, but i already have some ideas. :banj0:

Athlon64 FX-62 (skt AM2)
ASUS M2N32-WS AM2 MoBo
2GB Crossair DDR2
200 GB SATA HD (already have)
Graphic Card (have to think a lot of it :talker: )
800 W PSU

ASUS Mobo VDIMM goes up to 1.9 v, do you think it is enough for most DDR2 800 modules, i heard that not all DDR2 work with that MoBo. What do u think of it ? :talker:

Good thing is that I will have enough time to change my mind if needed and discuss with you here :banj0: .

personally i wouldnt get the fx-62 - what id look for would be a Quad Core Atlon 64 or even an operton when they come out. Pair it up with DDR2 800 or 1000 speed ram. As far as gfx cards go your gonna have to pay out the rear for any thing Direct X 10 ...and you'll need a good PSU to feed all of this

Better get a larger PSU if you want to run all that and the next gen. of video cards.

I think alot of these video cards are getting out of control ...come on!!! my 350w psu powering my old Northwood P4 wouldnt even power a GF8800 or 1950XTX ...and thats just stupid ..no one should be required to run 900-1200w psu just cause ATI and nvidia cant conserve power

Go C2D :talker:

The GX2 7950 only consumes 271w by the way..........not bad for 2 GPU's

ATI boards consume major Watts......and have bad driver support to boot.......something to think about for next year buddy....... :talker: :banj0:

A quad-core Opteron  wont fit in my budget, even a quad-core Athlon64 will be very expensive when they come out. :talker:

Cant afford a card like GF8800, will probably get a simpler dx10 card, a mid-spec one when they come out... :talker: I hope they dont cost too much ... :banj0:

Thanks for the ideas !

~update~

An Opteron 1218SE may be a good choice also

My recent second thoughts...
(best prices in my city)

Option 1:
Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe US$ 220,00
Opteron DC 1216 US$ 400,00
2GB Crossair XMS2 (2x1GB) US$ 280,00
Zalman Water Cooler () US$ 100,00
------------------------------------------------
US$ 1000,00

Option 2:
Asus P5W DH Deluxe US$ 270,00
Intel Conroe E6400* US$ 325,00
2GB Crossair XMS2 (2x1GB) US$ 280,00
Zalman Water Cooler () US$ 100,00
------------------------------------------------
US$ 975,00

* E6400 (stock 2.13 GHz) would be OCed ~ 3.2 GHz (~150%)

It's decided. Although I am still an AMD fanboy I decided to go with the Core 2 Duo for my rig. I will have to go with a simpler graphics card, no 8800 by now due to my low budget ...

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Intel Conroe E6400
2GB Crossair XMS2 (2x1GB)
Geforce 7800 GT*
My Own Water Cooler System (following Chriso  )

*If there was something like a 8600 GT with similar price i'd go for it...

I will order the parts on january, prices always fall a bit after Christmas :moreilly:

Hey vrosa!! Very cool man! You will like the Core 2 Duo, I sure love mine!! Intel did a great job for once!! Why didn't you go with the 680i board? Also, for that much money why didn't you spend a little more for the Corsair Dominator memory and the extra OC potential?

The cheaper dx10 cards look like they should be out in a few months. That is what I am waiting for as well!! Crysis is my main reason for doing that!!!

I will probably go for 7600 PCI-E too, but here in Brazil i wont get it for less than US$ 220,00... Cant afford the 7800 now.

-----------------------------------------------------

The best prices i could find here:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe - US$ 240,00
Intel Conroe E6300 - US$ 275,00

...quite expensive :yahoo: :)

I still dont have money for all the other parts :scara:

The complete system will cost arround US$ 1100, maybe a bit less.

Prices here suck ! If i could get the prices you guys are paying i would be very happy :o

Skip the Asus motherboard! I can't say I'm too satisfied with the M2N series from them...
