Well, with the anniversary of Sept. 11th only two hours away I thought it would be a nice way of remembering the day by all of us sharing the events of that day that are now burned in our mind.

I will start us out.

That day is so vivid in mind even today. I remember that morning I went to school. At the time I was still in High School. That morning I had my eye exam inorder to get my drivers license. I went down to the room and that is when I first heard that a plane had crashed into a building. My first impressions were that it was a small private plane and probably and accident. I somewhat put it out of mind and went on with my day. About thrity minutes later our study hall type period got over and it was time to start my first class. It was english, when I reached the class I realized that the day's events were bigger than I originally thought. The teacher had a television setup with the news on. Over the next hour and a half we watched very atentively. The class got over and I moved onto my Geometry class, that day we had a test to take. However, the test has the last thing on everyone's mind. The teacher was somewhat of a jerk and made us take the test, I can't remember but I am sure I did terrible on that test. After everyone was done we got to turn the tv on until towards the end of the hour the principle of the school came on over the intercom saying that he didn't want any students watching tv anymore. We were kind of mad about this but I can somewhat see why he said that. The rest of the day classes went on as usual and I also remember having to go march outside in marching band which was also hard to concentrate on what we were doing. When I got home I pretty much was glued to the television for the rest of the night wondering how such a terrble thing could of happened to our beloved country.

We need to know our history or we are bound to repeat it.

I was going to work- got in the car and the radio was on the news saying that a plane had hit the WTC. I went back in the house and turned on the TV and called my wife. They were showing a picture of the tower with what looked like the outline of a plane on it. A little while later the other tower got hit.
I had to leave and took off to work- about halfway there the 1st tower fell, I couldn't beleive it. After I got to work we all watched the Tv and saw the 2nd tower fall.
That night I called all my relatives and told them how I loved them. My family stayed together the rest of the day, watching the news and looking for answers and reasons that wouldn't be found for quite a while.

The experience made me feel closer to every other American than I ever felt before.

Remember it very well. For some reason i couldn't sleep that morning, i generally get up at about 6:30 PST, but i just woke up early for some reason. Another odd thing is I generally just lay in bed until the alarm goes off, on that day, something compelled me to turn on the TV in the bedroom. What i saw was frightning. Early News feeds were coming in from CNN and we i was watching the tower smoke, and then the other plane hit the second tower, i couldnt believe my eyes!

Had to work that day, but took a portable in to keep up on the news

I just finnished work and thought id go to my local pub for a pint and as i walked in i looked at the tv just as the plane hit the seconed tower. At first i thought it was a film but soon realized it was real. I just stopped in my tracks and thought oh my god.

My haert goes out to everybody that died and to all that lost someone special that day.

Martin.

I'm not American but I don't think I need to be to understand what happenen on that day. I was at work myself. Like Chris, I thought the first plane was a pilot error. WhenI saw the second plane hit, I just couldn't believe what I was seeing. Credit where credit is due, you Americans showed how strong and together you are in times of need. Well done and all the best for the future.

Dave
