Oh yeah, I think Sony wil receive most of the blame. However, it is a question now of weather or not Dell knew about the problem and tried to ignore it. If that is the case then they are liable as well.

Let's be honest. Those batteries are probably used in thousands other (non Dell) lappies and there are no problems. Could be just cheap components. I'm just guessing here by the way so if I'm dissin Dell without proper cause forgive me

No, I totally agree dave!! I think I am can diss Dell since I have owned a dell laptop. Mine was terribly designed, fan was underneith of it right where your knee is at. After about an hour your body temp would rise so much you just couldn't have it on your lap anymore. Now I have a IBM (Lenovo) and this baby runs nice and cool!! I can have it on my lap for all day if I wanted and it wouldn't bother me. Just goes to show that when you go for the cheapest that is exactly what you get!! IBM uses batteries from Sony and they have yet to have a recal, I would say it is mainly because they design their stuff better. The same story goes with Apple, which didn't recal near as many.
