Whats up with the folding@home Stat Server? Did we break it again with our massive point scores?

The campus is having network outages. The folding servers are running, just the stats web server is out.

Still not up. They seem to have a lot of network problems. Kind of annoying for those of us that check the stats religiously.

Edit: Back up now.

So far so good, the dual console client running on my machine works great. Oh, quick question, is there a way to set the affinity permanently? That would be nice so i dont have to go through the actions each and every time after a reboot. Hmm, maybe that could be hacked into the F@H code?

Yeah PS3 folders are getting screwed!!! We always have, and it continues!!! If they don't step up the points I'm just going to stop it all together, cause doing this is shortining it's life span. Sure I don't play games on it but I have a lot of Blu ray discs now.

Prof. Vijay Pande (Creator and Director of F@H) has started a blog about Folding@Home. Pretty interesting stuff.

A choice quote:

Quote

One upshot for FAH is that this would drive the PS3's GFLOP rate (now typically 35 GFLOPS on a new GB WU) even higher, closer to the peak. Since the peak is something like 200 for the Cell, we still have a lot of room to possibly grow (although it's unclear how close one can get to the theoretical peak -- my guess is that 70 to 90 per PS3 may be the max for us). Nevertheless, even 70-90 would mean FAH would start getting close to 2 Petaflops!

For you vista users, here's a FAH widget.

I don't really know how well it works, but it'd be nice to know.
