Responding to the needs of a fatter America, an American carmaker is making its computer models, fatter, to make room for a bigger driver.
From airplanes to the shopping lane, the widening waistline of America has meant some readjusting.
Redesigning now, to make room for American girth, the American car.
Eero Laansoo/Ford Motor Co. Engineer: "It presents an interesting design opportunity."
Ford has developed nine virtual mannequins for its cyber model 2007. They're chunkier, so engineers can ergonomically allow for a bigger belly and wider hips. An industry first, but probably not the last. With one in 3 Americans obese, fat is a national epidemic.

So when you go to Ford to buy a car, Do you ask for an Xtra Large? Do we really need more Xtra Large Cars?

This is sad. It's yet more proof that the people in the world today are eating all the wrong foods and not exercising enough
My sister is ... um ... large and she always says "I'm on a diet blah blah blah" and the first thing she does is have junk food. Typical of a lot of peoples attitude today really.
