K this is what I got. Have a HP (32bit) sys that the HD is crashin, an I am trying to take some "important files" from the HD to a thumnb drive (or three) since I have Knoppix on bootable cd I am using it to access the HD and transfer but now I am having probs seeing the files. ( the HD has windows partioned on it) so there in lies my question. Does anyone have a suggestion to be able to help me see the files that I know are there but Knoppix cant find.

Can you mount the partitions as root, and what is the filesystem?
