While I was browsing the web this morning looking at the history of computers; trying to make sense at where it is all going. If you look back at how simple things we take for granted now, were such breakthoughs in their time. If we look at how the GUI has advanced from something simple as seen in Mac OS and Windows 3.1.
Or even in Linux with KDE 1 or first release of Gnome.

What do we have now? We have Apple's Mac OS X and Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista and last but not least the huge improvements in Gnome and who knows what KDE 4 will bring us. What am I trying to get at? Not sure all that I know is that PC's have come a long way and their seems to be a long way to go.

I mean so much is being developed in all fields. Soon we will have processors that will be way past the 4/5GHZ speed (dual processing). Operating systems that are advancing in both reliabilty, and GUI. The way we connect to the internet, prototypes of +-100MBPS internet connections.

New movie formats, new DVD technology, the list goes on and on.

I do not know what to expect from computers in 5years but I am sure that it will be amazing know matter what system you will be running

I look forward to technology including computers becoming a bigger part of life but still in my control.

Networking through plug sockets is one thing that is expected. Imagine...that means every home device could potentially be networked :)

Well, movies say all, someday (the matrix) we will be all controlled by machines and we will be fighting them (and kicking ass) in a software enviroment that you can physically die in. ... jk :) In a few years I think electronics will be more intergrated into common devices, like cars. *which is already happening... whatever happend to the old chargers.. made all of metal? * I also think that todays more basic super computers will be packaged into somthing the size of our laptops.. and even better into desktops.. someday there is going to be more than plenty processing power. What I wonder is what we will use it all for :S
