one problem I ran into with installing 5308 is I had to install it by going through my server 2k3 and telling it to install taht way I could not install from boot :D I dunno what caused that but it installed fine that way... maybe it was the way the disc was burned... no idea I'll let ya guys know how my 5342 install goes.. but glad to see you got it working g :)

yeah, got it working right. the installer was on iso format then just burnt the image via *ero.

the nvidia driver i was pertaining to was "87.15_forceware_vista_x86" this is i assumed designed for the 5308 build.

however even without the driver video works fine even on "dual monitors". upon install it recognizes and pops up a screen more likely like the nvidia desktop manager(config for dual view monitors).

also the booting time is doubled in comparison with my xp 32bit.
about being memory hog, i dont think theres much difference from xp 32bit(with sp2). since vista build 5342 from freshboot only takes around 350mb of physical ram. so personally, i differ to say vista is a memory hog. 1gb perhaps is good enough for regular(non power users) users, once the final release is out.

i am wondering that the new vista couldnt be properly installed in a nForce3 system.

first i install the vista 5342 as usual, later on, the blank screen with a blinking cursor appear on the top left corner and the system hang on.... :'(

i reboot the system and enter to the safe mode, it finish the installing process itself, and finally i successfully booted to VISTA's safe mode only......but not normal mode........

could any one offer help???

SYSTEM:
Gigabyte K8NS BIOS ver. F19 (nForce3 250)
AMD Athlon64 3000+ (@200FSBx10 = 2GHz)
DDR400 1G RAM
ATi Radeon 9550 128bit 256MBvRAM
SATA 80GB HDD
on board nVidia Network adapter

Presuming you have Windows Vista installed on a dual boot, boot into XP and then go to the Vista drive, enter the Windows folder and delete the folder called temp in there. If that doesn't work...i dunno
