ok, i have a problem. i tried to install vista on my laptop and it pretty much did something real bad to my drive. first the install wouldnt work properly so i went back into windows and it detected the hard drive to be 1.2TB, then bluescreened. it bluescreens ever since and no windows installation or linux installer can read the hard drive, yes BIOS and LIVE linux can. the problem with live linux is it wont let you change the permissions to the drive to allow it to do anything, and i dont know where the formatting options are in it (mephis linux live) - in windows drive manager doesnt read it, fdisk doesnt, nothing!!!
any ideas?

you may try booting Linspire and run it from the CD, see if that works. Just a quick question. Is this a new hard drive?

i solved the problem by totally wiping the drives through KillDisk (if anyone comes accross the same issue)
