Service packs add all the patches that your system needs and in some cases can change major things in an Operating System.

For me it depends on what Operating System, the computer and other factors.

at this point, yeah. SP 2 for the DEP (amd/emt cpus), and as you might notice some software info stating in order to use it you must have such and such SP, etc.

i will depending on the word travelling around, service pack 2 i installed then next reinstall i did i stopped using it due to compatibility issues

Service Packs rocks! My PC always worked better after renewing over SP's!

For me Depends, SP2 gives me headaches so i use XP SP1 and i patch what i can using the AutoPatcher XP =D

SP2 Led to Reformatting every 6 months, since i went back to SP1 my XP is now over a year old and running great.

it took me a long time to adjust to SP2, first thing i do is disable is the Security Center. Its a pain and i think i am just a bit cleverer than it :blink:

hey clarky, yeah, my wifes' pc (intel) will not take sp2 (xp home). it does the "boot
loop" :lol: i'm trying to get her to "upgrade" w/an oem disc i bought w/sp2, but she is

Go to start, click run, services.msc then disable the service called 'security center'

system wouldn't run as well as with sp1, just general weirdness and instability, had to disable n-execute coz it'd mess up some programs and i had to format every 6 to 8 months.

SP1 runs well over 14 months now I'm about to break that record and my PC runs perfect all day everyday.
