Only us geeks or us people mad on computers know what they mean to US!
Without the internet or a Beta or some kinda software we would be bored!

What got you into computers? was it a way of passing time or something you naturally excel at?

I got into computers when I was 6. I fixed my Teacher's computer because she couldn't get her accelerated reader program to function properly. I found the .dll file that was corrupt, copied it from another machine over "sneaker net"(remember those days?) and that was it!!! It was an old apple machine that should have been replaced yars before.

I got into them when I graduated from my 286 to Pentium 75. I began upgrading the pentium and the rest is history.

For me my first 'Windows' PC was 3.11, i had about five of those and basically i upgraded them, downgrade them and just swapped parts but with the most basic of Windows OS. Then 95/NT, 98 and later XP.

It was only after XP did i seek Windows 2000 and also Server based systems with networking in mind. Soon i learned Roaming profiles, Group Policy's to a fault and found that fun.

With a GOOD knowledge of computers and a good knowledge of the Operating Systems i got bored....Enter Windows Longhorn!

Longhorn has kept me occupied since very early 2004. I joined some forums and got to know Nvyseal, Linoman and others later like Shadowfox, redinferno...all you noisy ones (and the rest of you :withstupid: ) Now i am good with IPB, setting permissions and running forums (well i am getting there).

Christmas 1982 - got a Commodore VIC-20 that year. By the time my 7th birthday rolled arouns the next summer, I was already doing BASIC programming in the VIC, as well as taking the machine apart to see how it worked. When I was in 6th Grade, I was fixing all the Apple II machines in my elementary school (I had an Apple IIGS at home at this time). Since then, I've had numerous computers:

Xerox AT
AT&T 286
Mac Powerbook 145 (Motorola 68LC040 @ 25MHz)
Mac Performa 630CD (Motorola 68040 @ 33MHz)
PackardBell (Cyrix MII processor @ 225MHz)
eMachines S1642 (Athlon 1600+ OC'd to 2100+)
HP 510N (1.3GHz Celeron - parents gave to me)
Homebuilt Athlon 2400+ PC
Compaq Laptop (AMD K6-2 475MHz)
Compaq R2100 Laptop (3.0GHz P4 mobile)
Gateway 7405GX Laptop (Mobile Athlon64 3200+)

I do web design, admin several forums relating to politics (I was a History/PoliSci major in college), and still work on and play with PCs every day.
