A new generation of video gaming kicks off on Tuesday when Microsoft's Xbox 360 goes on sale in the US.
It marks the start of a new phase in the history of gaming, promising more realistic and better-looking games.
The sleek, silver console goes on sale in Europe on 2 December and Japan shortly afterwards.
Sony plans to release its PlayStation 3 in the spring, with Nintendo also planning a new console for 2006, giving Microsoft a head-start over its rivals.
The Xbox 360 marks Microsoft's bid to conquer a fast-growing industry worth some $25bn globally.
I think for once, sony is gonna be cast aside...am i right?

How right you are Karl... Sony's going to get hit hard because SPRING??? holy crap... they just lost the holidays and there goes the neighborhood... you think people are going to save for one and tell their kids "sorry PS3 comes out in spring, you'll get your christmas gift then" I think not! Xbox got a jump and Xbox is going to dominate. Nintenod has kinda lost an edge too. They use to be amazing, outstanding, and the best. Then Sega jumped on board and then followed Playstation, now not only do they dominate the console industry but the hand held industry as well, the psp plays videos, songs, and games, I don't think my Gameboy Advanced XP can do that
.
I don't even think that Sony was all that appetizing after Xbox hit the market, I'm sorry but from what I have seen, the Xbox has had bigger playing worlds, less load time, and more realistic graphics and unless Sony can pull one out of the hat... I think they are going to fall behind, WAY behind. Seen the screenies for PGR 3? Ohh CREAM!!!! Sony better get to kicking if that want a piece of Xbox's apple!

I agree...Nintendo has lost out a long time ago...and with the PS3 being released so late only loyal customers will stick with it for a nextgen console. Why wait if you can get something better (imho) than wait for something only possibly marginnally better.

Possibly? there's not possibility in my opinion... Sony's also stuck themselves with that Anti-Piracy stuff... people. including loayl fans, wont' trust them as much for a while, until they prove themselves worthy they are just SOL.
