The world's largest maker of personal computers, Dell, has reported a fall in third-quarter profits after taking a charge to repair faulty parts.
Dell reported net income for the three months to 28 October of $606m (£346m), down from $846m a year ago.

The firm took a one-off charge of $442m which included $300m for repairing faulty parts in business machines.

I am actually pleased for ONE REASON: KW wants money from this industry, if dell are gone :P

The irony of this is that they publicly attributed the repairs to their business lines of PCs, but apparently the real culprit was the XPS2 notebooks. The first few runs of the XPS2s has significant issues with light leakage from the LCD, and as a result Dell was replacing a lot of LCDs, which aren't cheap.

Yeah, everyone around here who has dells, i hardly ever see them. I repair pc's and the dells do not give much trouble other than spyware lagging the system. But i dont want to see them hurt, because i do also buy systems from them myself once in a while.

Odd... when I was a tech at Best Buy (and later for a local company), we saw more Dells than anything else. Even the homebuilt PCs came in less often for HW issues than Dells.
