I've just downloaded and will try it on a VM.

Just sharing ! :giggle:

Kubuntu will release version 10.04, the Lucid Lynx, in April 2010

New in Alpha 2: KDE 4.4 RC1

Quote

KDE Software Compilation 4.4 RC 1 is one of the final steps towards the next version of the popular KDE Desktop. The System Tray, Device Notifier, Nepomuk Semantic Search and KNetworkmanager are just a few of the items that will see improvements. New features such as grouping windows into tabs have been added, and new and improved widgets, effects, and configuration/ui changes are just some of the great things planned for SC 4.4.

~update~

Couldnt install it on a VPC VM. I'm getting "an unknown processor error". What is odd is that 9.10 installed ok.

Alpha things ?

Maybe I have more luck with VirtualBox.

:(

~update~

Ok, it installed and worked fine with VirtualBox.

Sounds like it's time to get another harddisk and install some Linuxes again.

Anything good 10.04 brings compared to 9.10?

I could notice faster boot time and Kernel was updated to v2.6.32, but it's still much like 9.10. The faster boot time probably is due to the removal of HAL.

~update~

I would like to check the visual effects, but couldn't activate them 'cos of VM video limitations. I'm gonna install it on a physical partition tonight.

Yes MO, I'm gonna post'em as soon as possible. I couldn't install it yet 'cos my DVD drive died. What is odd is that it took ages to burn the install CD and then it didn't work anymore. :storm:

I'm gonna order a Blu-Ray drive. I found a LG BH08LS20 for a good price. Is it worth ? :(

:giggle:

********************

While I can't have it installed on a physical partition I'm playing with it on the VM.

I activated VBox 3D video acceleration and started compiz on the guest, what gave me windows shadows and transparency, but my mouse pointer disappeared.

Any ideas?
