yeah really weak so far. But every week the beat box guy (Blake?) surprises me. He sings really well. performing like a pro. He is the only one that really hasn't been weak.

The guys were weak. I like Blake and the Timberlake look alike. Chris Richardson? Chris Sligh is funny and has some chops. American Idol not.

Simon has painted himself into a corner to a certain extent. Year after year he has told auditioners that they have the voice but not the looks in not so complimentary terms. This year he has been more politically correct in reference to appearance yet 2 of the best voices are cows. :davex:

Do you think bald rehab Britney would sell an album released tomorrow? I think not. She sold her records when she was hot. There is a conumdrum here. Yes it is a singing competition. It's also a popularity contest.

Hot women sell records! Shania and Faith come to mind but they can also sing their as_es off! Willa Ford, Nelly Furtado, Pussycat Dolls and others come to mind too. Kelly Pickler finished 7th (?) but she's knocking 'em dead with "Red High Healed Shoes" and her new boob job. :scara: Perhaps the name of the show should be changed to: "This year's best Singer" and the votes might be different. Who would I idolize? A young Britney for sure. Best voice would have nothing to do with it. I think Antonella will go far. Who idolizes a cow that can moo?
Blame it on Simon's first 4 years. :friends:

 perhaps I was a little harsh last night. To put things in perspective has anyone here purchased a CD by any contestant on American Idol? :davex: I didn't think so.

For me...

Kelly Clarkson- never
Rubin Studdard- nope
Clay Aikin- nope
Fantasia- never (normal speaking voice = Donald Duck)
Carrie Underwood- Yep! Great CD. :sphere2:
Soul Patrol, Taylor Hicks-Never
Kathrine McPhee- Ummm... I'll probably buy her album. Great voice and she is hot. :friends:
Kelly Pickler- Already have it. Red high Healed Shoes is great. I love Country. :D

Melinda Doolittle clearly has the best voice in this competition and should win...

if she does unless she writes great original material I would not buy a CD. That's just me. From my standpoint J-Lo and Britney are products of studio magicians and their looks. They aren't great singers. Antonella is by far the weakest singer. I think she will make one more week based on looks. Whatever happens she will be rich. Girls Gone Wild has offered her 50K to host their next video and some porn producers have offered her 250K to be their spokesperson. She's only 20 and whether she can sing or not she will probably end up richer than anyone reading this thread. :scara: MHO.

Edit: BTW...Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? Hahahhahahaha. :sphere2:

Agreed. After Antonella's crucifiction by the judges, her departure was expected if not this week... next. Sundance and Sabrina both should have made top 12. Sanjaya should have been gone last week. :friends: I missed the first person eliminated. Who was the 4th not to make it?

Looking like a 3 girl race to the finish to me. the obvious 2 and then 17 yr old Jordan Sparks is coming on strong. Sanjaya must have a huge teenybop vote, the granny vote, and the SanFran vote, plus everyone in India text voting for him to stay in it. How the heck is he still there??? gawddd  The guys are still sucking. Bad songs or arrangements or just plain unispiring performances. I think last year spoiled me. whole lot more tallent last year. Still those top two girls are great enough to carry the show. But if not we can always watch Paula and Simon fight and Randy might pop a stomach staple. Still worth tuning in :shamrock:

I read that in an interview a couple weeks ago that Simon said that if Sanjaya wins he would quit the show. That will probably get him some votes right there.

And then there is the crazy woman on myspace...

from http://www.tmz.com/

"Starving for Sanjaya

Posted Mar 21st 2007 11:23AM by TMZ Staff
Filed under: Wacky and Weird, American Idol
Sanjaya MalakarA woman on MySpace feels so strongly that Sanjaya Malakar does not belong on "American Idol" -- that she is starving herself until he is voted off the show!

Identifying herself only as "J," she is now four days into a hunger strike, saying, "I have no problems with Sanjaya personally, he seems like a very personable and charming young man. However, he does NOT belong on 'American Idol.'" Preach it, sister!

After Tuesday night's episode, "J" wrote, "Sanjaya did come out of his shell a bit tonight like the judges said. However, his voice was horrific. He screamed through the entire song and jumped around like a manic person. Nice kid, nice kid, but not for 'American Idol.'"

"J" says she is definitely hungry now, but is drinking a lot of fluids. She also says she is "having slight hallucinations." It's almost like watching him without fasting."

Good show last night with much improved singing. :chriso:

Hey NVY, if you are wondering why Sanjaya is still there, websites like this that get over a million hits a day are lobbying for him. :chriso:

Edit: To include interesting take on Idol auditions. It may change your mind about the show.

Is it just me or is the worst season ever? I can't relate to any of the contestants. Melinda Doolittle has the best voice. Maybe votefortheworst website has completly jaded my viewpoint. Goooo Sanjaya!

The lady on the hunger strike didn't post on her blog today. Did she die for her cause????

Yeah, this Sanjaya stuff is getting out of control. That poor starving woman is going to die. I wonder if Sanjaya could be charged with murder. hehe He is murdering the show. Thats for sure. I feel kind of sorry for the good talents that have to put up with this crap.

Hey ! How about that Jordon Sparks?!!! She's gettin' really good  17years old! Geez, when I think what I was (not) doin' at 17.
