Jesse Jackson has done a lot of good, a lot of bad, and a lot of wtf. This, imho, qualifies as a "wtf" moment.

Negotiating the release of hostages=good

Calling any follower of Judaism "himey"=bad

Speech at Jackie Robinson's funeral=good

Preaching that any black person that isn't Christian is an "uncle tom"=bad

Proclaiming that you're a Christian while using your faith to make money=wtf? Admonishing your own congregation for believing in Jesus but not your own presidential campaign=wtf?

Saying that Obama "talks down to black people" by Obama saying that all parents need to be more involved in their kids' lives=ugly.

Al Campanis did a lot of good things for baseball. I'll still tell him to f off. Jesse Jackson did a lot of good things for civil rights. I'll still tell him to f off.

Both douchebags never have had any interest in our social betterment and are happy to stay ignorant. Willful or otherwise. My grandmother has a saying for people like that---"You can't fix assholes."

my reaction was because this and other videos are being used by non obama supporters in a slanderous fashion. i agree w/banj, and i also think we should stay away from any political threads/posts, unless we create some sort of separate area just for things like this? am i off base here?

Hmm.

World is driven by politics and I see no reason to make it a 'taboo' subject, it can be a very interesting topic, but can also be a very controversial one at times, and the 'humor' seen by some, may not be seen by others, I agree.

A Politics/World Events section with a pre-warning of 'some content may offend' is not a bad idea though :christo:

the one (thread) i am familiar with (on another site) is unmoderated. for a reason. kinda somewhat free-for-all...could "we" handle something like this? seems like it would be a good idea, though we really don't have overly opinionated self aggrandizing belligerent members to make use of it...except me :christo:

I'm not saying I would be 100% involved in such a thread, but I think it'S a very good idea, a place where you don't need to watch your speech too much so others are not offended, since there would be a warning.

"What is written in the political thread stays in the political thread."
