Yes, goad me to try Vista RC 1. Finally I got a good 64-bit .iso to try. But do I dare replace WinXP32(C:\)? I mean I never use it. I have been booting D:\(XP64) forover a year. C:\ It's a waste of space. Will this plan screw me up? Nah. Sounds like fun. But really, What do you think?

U have xp64, so if i were u i would replace xp32 with Vista RC1 (or RC2 if u can wait for :yahoo: ).

I am always installing new OSs, but Win2k3 R2 x64 is always there to help me when something goes wrong with another OS. :headset:

So far it looks like it's a "Go for it".

Do yo think RC1 or RC2 is or will be, respectively, safe enough not to thrash my boot sector? ie jumping from winXP32 to Vista64 on C:\ and considering My winXP64 on D:\ has integrated it's WOW64 into C:\ is there any reason / preparation that should be taken into account? Or am I over thinking this? :headset: :yahoo:

Arrrrgghhh :cool2: it's not spam. I just had to blow something up.
RC2 didn't go on my machine either. Atleast this time it started the setup and went online for updates. Trouble was MS had nothin' for me. So I went on a quest for vista updates, put 'em on a disk(the best 64-bit that I could find anyway), but setup would not take them. Maybe cuz my internal HDDs are SATAs. I don't know. :storm:
Atleast I have fresh backups now :D

I installed R2, on another drive. went like clock work and I have SATA drives. I would also suggest a seperate hard drive. At least it didn't crash when I installed Avast, like R1 did.

Yeah I was really hoping not to have to buy another HDD for it. Especially since my C:\ drive is such a waste.

Speaking of HDDs - nice av!

Hi bluerip.
For my 2 cents worth, yeah, I would dump the 32 bit for Vista. I have a seperate system that I use for Vista playing because I can't afford to loose or even risk what I have on my x64 system. I dug out an old 3200 Newcastle and an Nforce 3-250 MB and away I went. I use SATA RAID 0 with 2x80 GB WD drives. I get a 5.9 rating on storage and a 4.1 in the CPU. The 5700LE kills me with a 3.0 (sad, so sad). Vista I guess is coming and going to be the thing to have so I guess it is better to play around with it to get familiar before it becomes the OS of choice...talker. :cool2:

I agree. My old rig couldn't handle it cuz it' way old. And this new rig ( well I built it over a year ago) has become my 64-bit baby. I suppose I could buy a cheap HDD, strip down my baby, just plug in the new drive and get it to work. I'm just not that.... Hey maybe there will be an RC-3 that will make my C:\drive useful again. Probably not

Well, cheers
