State odf the art or Old Skool. Take a look inside the Mac Pro and tell me what are your likes and dislikes.

Seems to me, they need to work on a few things!

dave, how in the world can you say that! don't you know that anything apple produces is far superior to all other computing platforms! wow, you can get a low end nvidia gpu and...wow, a single sata drive, and half a gig of ram for $3000+...awesome!
(refering to other rigs advertised on the site).

check the price...is it worth it?

Ok after careful analysis and me being a hardware lover. I Honestly dont see why they went with LGA775 Xeons that are probably years old like the ram. Who the hell uses 512 MB anymore. The simple fact that Apple doesnt add **** to their operating system merits their excuse to continue running 512 MB of RAM. I would think running two DC Xeons that you would put at the least 2GB ..especially if you planned on running this in a server environment.

Although its somewhat nice, the cooling is overkill and a clear sign that the Xeon CPU's being used are NOT the latest ones because if they we're they'd need a little less cooling like the Conroes. The case design sucks and hasnt changed since OSX came out. If you wanna know the truth ..this thing has OLD School written all over it. Theres nothing i like about it and im sure if i added a lil more ram to mine and Dual 7950's to mine ..id wipe my ass with that mac  . Apple needs to just get outta the pc/computer business and continue making what they are good at... ipods

I think alot of the design incorperated is a few years old. Riser card? 512 ram? Is the ram something like rambus? I dont know.
hummmm...........

dual chips with little ram....?
$3000.00?
To much money and old technology for me.

@ bluescreen:
PROCESSORS

Quote

The Mac Pro features two (2) dual-core Intel Xeon 64-bit processors, from Intel's brand-new "Woodcrest" family. Since each processor is dual-core, the Mac Pro effectively delivers quad-processor performance. Apple is calling it a "Quad Xeon 64-bit workstation
but yeah, wtf with the ram risers?
